The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 5.5 earthquake along the coast of Nicaragua on Thursday.

According to EMSC, the quake occurred at a depth of 64 kilometers (40 miles). Its epicenter was located 15 kilometers south-west of Chinandega.

Furthermore, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit off the coast of Tocopilla in Chile on Thursday, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The quake was 80 kilometers (50 miles) deep, according to the EMSC, and it was epicentered around 33 kilometers west of Tocopilla.
