Energy ministers from European Union nations will meet on Monday to explore how they might cooperatively reduce gas consumption as the union deals with Russian supply restrictions and prepares for any future supply disruptions.

“I plan to present to ministers the concrete steps that I believe we have to make, both at member states’ side and the Commission’s side, to be better prepared,” EU energy commissioner Kadri Simson said upon her arrival in Luxembourg for the meeting of energy ministers.

In July, the Commission will publish an EU strategy to coordinate preparedness for further gas supply shocks.
