On Wednesday, Japan expressed alarm over China’s military drills in reaction to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s travel to Taiwan, but refrained from commenting on Pelosi’s journey to Asia.

At a news conference, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said that the government has expressed concerns to China over the military actions, and that Japan continues to hope that problems concerning the Taiwan Strait may be handled by discussion.
