Korean Air Lines (003490.KS) and Asiana Airlines (020560.KS) are canceling flights to Taiwan for one or two days due to Chinese military drills in the region, according to local media.

According to news agency News1 and other local media, Korean Air canceled flights between Incheon and Taiwan on Friday and Saturday, while Asiana Airlines canceled Friday’s direct trip to Taiwan and would watch the situation.

Korean Air and Asiana representatives could not be contacted immediately.

On Thursday, China started unprecedented live-fire military exercises in six sites around Taiwan, a day after US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the self-ruled island that Beijing views as its sovereign territory.
