TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA), a French business, revealed progress on Wednesday on its plans for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Papua New Guinea.

TotalEnergies announced the commencement of the first phase of front-end engineering and design (FEED) studies for the Papua LNG project’s upstream production facilities via its Papua LNG joint venture.

The studies for the downstream liquefaction facilities were also developing in accordance with the overall project timetable, with the integrated FEED expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022. TotalEnergies said that the project is aiming for a final investment decision (FID) by the end of 2023 and a start-up by the end of 2027.
